We are looking for a Planning Lawyer with 3 yrs.+ pqe as a planning lawyer in local/central government or private practice.
Good knowledge and practical experience of planning law;
Excellent powers of analysis and sound legal judgment, with the ability to produce timely and fit for purpose, risk-based advice;
The ability to think strategically and creatively, see legal issues in their wider context and advise accordingly.
Experience of statutory drafting.
Main duties/responsibilities are likely to include:
providing legal advice to planning policy colleagues on reforms to the planning system including to: the planning application procedure, permission in principle, fees, enforcement, permitted development and prior approvals;
providing advice to planning casework colleagues and to ministers on planning decisions called in for the Secretary of State’s own determination and on recovered appeals;
providing advice to planning policy colleagues on housing: including advice on the Housing Delivery Test and Local Housing Need, on green belt policy and on Gypsies and Travellers;
as required, providing training or training materials for policy colleagues.
