Starting a business at any time involves challenges and risk, so starting one in the Construction sector at the beginning of a major recession would seem to be a less than sensible option. However at the tail end of 2008 Zinzan Brooke & Peter Hart identified an opportunity to use their combined Construction & Professional Sporting experience in a positive way, outside the contracting environment they had been operating in since 2002 in the UK. Number 8 Construction Services Ltd was established in October 2008 with a blank canvas and the support of some valued clients. Trading commenced in early 2009 in the grip of the recession, however the business grew steadily despite the tough conditions.
Over the years there have been significant contributors involved with the business, all of whom have brought experience, fresh ideas and energy. The early years were entirely focused on establishing the brand as a relationship focused supplier to the construction temp labour market with a real focus on Demolition and Civil construction. Now an established name in the London Construction sector Number 8 Resourcing has expanded significantly outside construction to resource a wide rage of frameworks that include Public Sector roles across the board, specialist Nuclear roles and Rail related roles.
The effect on the business has been significant and the new diversity has enhanced the energy that we have always had. We still have dedicated teams whose focus is on their core sectors so there has been no dilution of the service we always aim to provide.
The opportunity to relocate to New Zealand is still viable even although the demand created by the devastating earthquakes in Christchurch has subsided. The country still requires highly skilled people to take on critical roles and pass on knowledge to young Kiwis. Our objective is a personal one that is committed to providing opportunities to appropriately skilled individuals who most importantly have the character and commitment to establishing a life in New Zealand.
Number 8 remains dedicated to its Kiwi roots in providing a welcoming and relaxed approach to doing business. Our plans are to continue to grow and get better at what we do, and always ensure that our workers and clients are satisfied.
