As a self employed Sub Contractor you enjoy the benefits and freedoms that come with your chosen status, as well as offer our clients the opportunity to operate a more flexible and cost effective workforce. However, with this come responsibilities and obligations that need to be met. Compliance is a very significant part of our philosophy and it is important to us that, as self employed Sub Contractors, you fulfil these obligations. To operate as a self employed sub contractor there are a number of conditions and obligations you must meet.
- Experience. It is only possible to operate on a self employed basis if you can offer a specific skill and can back this up with the appropriate training qualifications or experience. As experienced workers you should be capable of performing the tasks you have agreed to without instruction or training.
- Responsibility. Sub contractors are responsible for the work they do and may be asked to rectify any defective work the are responsible for. You will also be required to carry current public liability insurance cover (we can provide assistance with this)
- Tax.You are responsible for meeting all NI and tax obligations with HMRC. CIS deductions are forwarded directly on your behalf with monthly statements provided.
- Personal Service. As a sub contractor you may, if required by the contractor, substitute your services with that of another of equal experience and ability to perform the work. This process will be agreed in advance by all parties.
To ensure all these conditions are met and understood every sub contractor will be fully briefed and sign contracts acknowledging they are fully aware of their obligations. All our records are regularly audited to confirm compliance.
